SUMMARY

The first weekend of February has become the annual tradition to pay respect to our unique Volkswagen creations.

Supporters and aficionados of the VAG scene have a choice of visiting the show for either a single day or the entire weekend with fellow Vdub enthusiasts by means of a preference of camping or accommodation.

The organizers are routinely tasked with finding venues that are suitable for the large demand of public attendance and the enormous volume of vehicles that require access to the show.

Meticulous sifting through the country’s landscape is done on a yearly basis to provide a venue that is fitting for each chapter of the motorshow. The event has currently reached a point where entire towns and multiple resorts need to be booked and coordinated for the annual pilgrimage.

The objective of SA Camp Fest is for car owners to appreciate South Africa’s nature and the outdoor lifestyle that most people are not able to enjoy at their city offices throughout the year!

The event involves a renowned Show & Shine competition which features a variety of categories from over 400 contestants (that are shortlisted to around 120 vehicles via pre-registration) and the show normally establishes the best project cars in the country for the current year. The level of competing vehicles at this event are arguably the most outstanding on the SA scene. The judging panel and entertainment lineup regularly include international personalities. The ultimate Best Of show winner receives a grand prize package that incorporates a trip to one of the largest international counterpart VAG motor shows.

SA Camp Festival visitors can consistently expect to see various sponsored live demos and debut displays, unveiling of the latest industry products and innovative Camp Fest activities that includes a state-of-the-art Dyno machine, Limbo and Sound-Off competitions. There is also a habitual Camp Fest afterparty or "Afterfest" hosted with impressive line-array sound and intelligent lighting. The entertainment includes a variety of celebrity acts that perform from the one-of-a-kind Amsterdam VW vehicle built DJ booth.

Another flagship attraction is the Wolfsburg car which is annually given away to one lucky supporter by means of the drawing of random wristband numbers. This is a pristine vehicle that is customized by SA Camp Fest premium sponsors.

The two day show is family orientated and includes numerous convoys by supporters from the likes of Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Kimberley, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Vereeniging and Rustenburg. There is also a rising interest and growing attendance from countries such as Namibia, Mozambique, Botswana, Zimbabwe as well as international visitors from USA, Mexico, Australia, Germany, Denmark, China and elsewhere around the globe.

If you are keen on the outdoor lifestyle and latest motor industry trends then be sure not to miss the upcoming 15th instalment of this remarkable annual festival.
